Stormwater Management

Managing stormwater runoff correctly can reduce the amount of nonpoint source pollution entering streams and eventually the ocean.

Stormwater can easily contribute large amounts of runoff within a watershed. In an effort to increase developers’ and state and county agencies’ awareness of cumulative impacts of stormwater, the Office of Planning developed the Stormwater Impact Assessment: Connecting primary, secondary and cumulative impacts to Hawaii’s Environmental Review Process, which is a framework for assessing and mitigating stormwater impacts during project development and design.

The Cumulative and Secondary Impacts page is located here.

A number of brochures on stormwater and state and county resources are available here.
